The Great Commission: Still for Today?

We recently saw an eye-opening statistic published in a 2021 Barna report, “Overcoming the Great Disconnect.” It revealed that two out of three U.S. Christians do not know what the Great Commission is. 

Additionally, the study showed that 85% of pastors believe all Christians should participate in missions, while only 25% of church attenders believe the Great Commission is a mandate for all believers. 

One Mission Society (OMS) believes God desires to use his church as the conduit for making disciples of all nations. However, missions can be overwhelming if you venture out alone. We want to walk with you to help bridge the gaps that might be hindering your church’s ability to effectively reach your community and the world with the Good News of the Gospel. OMS has a goal of mobilizing at least 125 new missionaries by our 125^th anniversary in the summer of 2026. The local church has the privilege and responsibility of carrying the Gospel to the ends of the earth, and our role at OMS is to partner with the church to share the burden and see God’s kingdom expanded. We desire partnership with churches that have a similar vision to increase global impact.

We are challenging each of our OMS church connections to partner with OMS to send at least one new missionary in the next few years.
