In recent publications, we discussed the importance of being strategic as you engage and equip the saints for Great Commission work. Creating a sending culture in your church may be a long game, but doing so will bring lasting fruit. The ministry of prayer is critical at every level.

Here are additional ways to increase your church’s missions momentum: 

• Don’t do it alone! Gather some like-minded people in your church to help you champion, lead, and implement your plan.

• Focus! It can be tempting to try many new things at once. Pick one change to implement at a time. Beginning too many things at once will diffuse your efforts and often leads to confusion in the congregation. Establish clear, measurable, time-bound goals that will help you assess the effectiveness of these focused efforts.

• Let us help! Build relationships with organizations that can help you accomplish your goals. Missiologist Ralph Winter expressed that the local church is nurture-oriented, and the mission organization is task-oriented. God intends for both to be regarded as expressions of his people. God designed the church and mission agencies to work together to fulfill his purpose.
