A Posture, a Plan, and a Promise!

Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” What would happen if a farmer committed his work to the Lord and planted his seed but didn’t clear the land first, forgot to provide water, planted at the wrong time, and didn’t communicate well with his workers? There might be some harvest, but because the farmer didn’t plan and leverage all the Lord had provided for him, the results were less than God’s best. The assumption in Proverbs 16:3 is that you will make plans. Plans help create an environment in which fruit can be abundant.

God has given your church many resources, including a building, people, talents, passions, and finances. How do you harness these things for kingdom fruit that your church is uniquely designed to produce? Developing a plan for missions will:

1. Allow you to reflect on what you want to achieve and what God is leading you to do.

2. Create unified vision and allow all areas of the church to consider how to support.

3. Help establish stepping stones and platforms to contribute to the shared vision.

4. Align your local, regional, and global outreach.

5. Equip you to empower and release people to use their gifts and calling.

6. Create a framework for intentional partnership.

7. Prioritize spending and resource investment.

8. Provide a framework for ongoing evaluation.
